I think the best thing about the movie is that while it's dated, as it was shot back in the 1970s, it does not have the cheesiness that many older films do, so one can enjoy it as much today as in decades past. A 'caper' movie, Green Ice centres around Ryan O'Neal's footloose opportunist, as he finds himself drifting through South America and encounters Anne Archer's character. It's by no means a great film, but with its good looking main cast , the glorious Mexican locations and the story about a daring emerald heist it may just be the perfect entertainment for a rainy Sunday afternoon. So, grab a cold Pacifico, some chips & salsa and you will have an enjoyable Latin escape. A decent film that I saw quite a few times on HBO that highlights the black market of emeralds and its links to then leftest guerilla movements around the world as the US and Soviet Union contested for influence and domination around the world.
It's really a good movie, good plot, good script, good performance by the actors, good score.
