As usual, Law demonstrates his stunning good-looks and the wit to use them effectively, if with a slightly inconsistent Mancunian accent. no problem as i've watched movies with kristy swanson in them over and over. This is a typical Kar Wai Wong film.Even some of the music is borrowed from In the mood for love.I have long been a Kar Wai Wong film fan.This is his first English language film.But the Kar Wai Wong style is still there. Elizabeth, the main character, never got too involved with the people she met in her soul-searching journey. It was totally unbelievable. It was okay.

The screenplay does not feel natural and while I love Nora Jones as a singer, she's not an actress and it's painfully obvious when you see this film. 35 out of 70 found this helpful. My Blueberry Nights does not fall short of delivering that soft touch, that dreamy, bittersweet, spell-binding atmosphere we just love to sit in for a Kar-Wai movie for. And of course the cast is both extremely beautiful and undeniably talented just not at working opposite each other. "My blueberry nights" retains all the mesmerizing visual appeal and enchanting mood, but is un-Wong-Ka-wai in being quite mainstream and accessible. This movie seems to have met before.The Rachel Weisz part make me think of Texas,Paris the moment I heard the monologue.The idea crossing the America is not fresh either.As to Norah Jones,her role is just like Amélie.But there's something sweet in all these.Unlike Amélie who tries to help others,Elizabeth is merely a witness to all those things,aiming at finding a way to say goodbye to her failure in love.When she finally think herself prepared to say goodbye,the person who broke her heart is not there any more,and it's time to start a new relationship with Jude Law If you want to see something serious,I'm sorry,you may be disappointed.But if you just enjoy the atmosphere in a romantic movie,you will be satisfied.But it doesn't mean that it's a popcorn movie.Apart from the typical Kar Wai Wong style scenes,music,there's something to think over.You will think of something,think of your own love story in this story.
winter's dream is a total failure. Norah comes and wants it. Majestic pictures really. I thought the movie needed to be thought out way more. The best performances in the movie belong to the more deserving supporting actors in the film, mainly Rachel Weisz, David Strathairn and Natalie Portman who bring more to the film in acting than it deserves. I too am a HUGE Rachel Weisz fan but the whole thing sorta seemed like a mess to me. Franz grew up in Wyandotte and wanted to make sure this movie made Michigan the back drop, filming all over the area, including Royal Oak. Like all Hallmark movies the story is solid and the acting is very good.
It's slow as hell, dull and shallow. My recommendation is to watch it at night, in bed, with no worries on your mind or things to do. Cobb's wife Mal (played by Marion Cotillard) kills herself prior to the events of Inception after coming to believe what she thought was reality is really just another layer of dreaming. That very pie Jude cooks everyday in his restaurant, for customers who don't want it. Natalie Portman confirms that she's a spectacular actress and a riveting presence on the screen. Makes you feel good after wards! Wong Kar Wai's English-language debut is a home run, thanks to his superior craft and thanks to the remarkable group of individuals he has brought together, from his star-studded cast to Ry Cooder on lead guitar and Darius Khondji as director of photography. It is about human emotion, growth, hurt,longing,finding inner peace. The film has two major problems going for it, one is the script which does have one decent segment involving a cop (David Strathairn) and his wife (Rachel Weisz) but that's really a testament on how good both Weisz and Strathairn are as actors because they draw you into their character's lives and makes you feel for them but unfortunately the script derail their efforts in bringing more to their roles.
A good clean family movie the entire family can enjoy without foul language. Jude Law is really not in the movie much at all and Natalie Portman is the worst served by all of this because despite her up hill battle to give a good performance with how unfocused the script is, she does not have much of a story to work with.
