In this touching story, a dedicated African-American teacher in an inner-city school in the midwestern United States facing tough odds helps ghetto children to succeed. The story depicts the struggles of African Americans as seen through the eyes of the narrator, a woman named Jane Pittman. In fact, it keeps happening after her story ends. Tyson does a great job playing Pittman through the years. Story of a black woman in the South who was born into slavery in the 1850s and lives to become a part of the civil rights movement in the 1960s. The supporting cast throughout the film is so so, no one stands out. But tbh if this was my class, they would be watching Django UnchainedPerhaps the most puzzling celebrity fact is Cicely Tyson’s actual age: is she 85 or 95? I never expect a film to be exactly as the book. This movie has it all. I received a prompt and excellent service from the seller. Great classic!
